Coming off South Carolina victory, Trump to rally in Greensboro Saturday

In South Carolina's Saturday Republican presidential primary, 60% of voters choose former President Donald Trump as their nominee for the 2024 presidential race. Just over 39% of voters chose the state's former governor, Nikki Haley, as the nominee. The vote comes as North Carolina voters prep for the March 5 primary and as Trump plans a visit to Greensboro this weekend.

School and business closures ahead of Biden visit to Raleigh

Multiple schools and businesses have announced on social media that they will be closed Thursday afternoon as security plans to block roads for most of the work day. There are two schools on the same block as the event space selected for the Thursday presidential visit. There are six schools in the immediate closure area.

Cooper steps into national spotlight

s chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper considers the 2022 election a good year for Democrat governors across the country. While in his own state his party suffered a net loss in the state legislature, the U.S. Senate seat, and all the statewide judicial races, nationally the Democrat organization he leads “avoided a net loss and picked up one governorship,” in November.

Budd leads Beasley by 5% in new poll of U.S. Senate race in N.C.

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Ted Budd has a comfortable lead over Democratic opponent Cheri Beasley in North Carolina, according to the results of a new Civitas poll.

Budd, who represents the state’s 13th congressional district, garnered 45% support among likely voters. That compares to 40% support for Beasley, a former chief justice of the N.C. Supreme Court. Green Party candidate Matthew Hoh secured about 1% and Libertarian candidate Shannon Bray 3%. Eleven percent remained undecided.
