Biden touts $82 million for high-speed internet in NC

President Joe Biden made a stop in Raleigh Thursday to tout not only how Bidenomics is helping the country succeed on many fronts but also that the White House is investing another $82 million to connect 16,000 additional homes and businesses to high-speed internet in North Carolina.

Labor unions request NCDOL examine reinstituting mask mandates and other rules

Left-leaning groups, including the North Carolina Conference of the NAACP, have requested the NC Department of Labor to look at the possibility of instituting rules that would mandate masks and other requirements like social distancing once again in businesses and elsewhere across the state.

Extending McHenry’s powers as interim speaker is still a possibility

New divide in NC Democratic Party? Democrats walk out on pro-Israel resolution

On Tuesday, following seven votes on other bills, the North Carolina House introduced a bipartisan resolution condemning Hamas for the terrorist attacks and vowing to support Israel. Rather than vote yes or no, twelve House Democrats walked out of the chamber. This has led to more questions over whether the N.C. Democratic Party is divided on supporting Israel.

VinFast’s losses continue to mount, officials still optimistic

Coming on the heels of a second-quarter report that saw losses of $526.7 million, VinFast reported Thursday that it lost an additional $623 million for the third quarter of 2023. That brings total losses since 2021 for the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker to $5.1 billion.

Budd says Biden’s language on building border wall mirrors his bill

Many were surprised to hear President Joe Biden’s announcement Thursday about his administration’s complete turnaround in allowing the resumption of building the border wall in South Texas including Republican North Carolina Sen. Ted Budd. He was even more surprised to learn that the waiver of 26 federal laws the Biden Administration is calling for is very similar with one exception, to legislation that Budd proposed in February.
