Stein, lawmakers square off again in abortion pill lawsuit filings

State Attorney General Josh Stein and Republican state legislative leaders offered a federal judge opposing arguments this week in a lawsuit challenging North Carolina’s abortion pill restrictions. US District Judge Catherine Eagles asked parties in the case, Bryant v. Stein, to submit briefs Monday. Eagles will render a decision in the case without holding a trial.

Cooper, Stein jump into redistricting legal fight again

Gov. Roy Cooper and state Attorney General Josh Stein hope to sway a federal Appeals Court to rule against Republican state legislators in a battle over North Carolina’s new state Senate election map. Cooper and Stein, both Democrats, filed a brief Monday evening with the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals. Legislative leaders and plaintiffs challenging the Senate map filed their own briefs several hours later.
